Here's a few more photos of the corrosion.

As I've already said most of this was repaired by fabricating new panels from steel plate. Once done the whole car was thoroughly cleaned and flatted down. Knifing stopper was used to smooth out any imperfections in the body. Probably the hardest parts to clean and prepare were the engine compartment and the areas around the doorframes. This would not have been such problem had I opted to re-spray the car its original colour. As it was doors, bonnet and tailgate all had to be removed. Next several coats of grey primer surfacer were sprayed and sanded to hide the remaining imperfections. I sheeted of the floor and parts of the garage with builders damp proof sheeting and did the spraying a section at a time. It made it easier to keep the dust away as to be honest it's far from being the ideal place to be spraying in.

Topcoat

I had to wait for summer to arrive before doing the colour coats as I've only got a little heater in the garage. That proved to be a long wait. Finally a few days of warm weather arrived and the top coats where sprayed. However as I'm along way off being an expert sprayer there was quite a few more waits for good weather after I'd flatted down again and again and again. A long process but I think it was all worth it in the end.
